Fresno State Compost Facility
Statement of Purpose

"Completing the cycle for a better environment."

Operate an on-site composting facility on the Farm at Fresno State, recycling the manure and other wastes generated by the Livestock Enterprises; partnering with the University Grounds Department, blending the green waste from the campus grounds and food scrap waste from University food Services with the manure to produce a high quality nutrient rich compost product.

Utilize this facility as part of the University's commitment to campus sustainability; meet the environmental water and air quality standards and regulations; demonstrate to our students and community responsible stewardship of our resources.

The compost will be utilized by our permanent and row crop enterprises as well as our Grounds Department, marketed bulk to our community with an emphasis on commercial and residential landscape use, and offered for sale by the bag through our Nursery and Farm Market. The potential exists to market our high quality bagged compost through local outlets.

Fresno State Green-cycle will be operated with the help of students and will be financially self-sufficient, generating revenue to cover start up and operating costs and turn in a profit at the end of the fiscal year.
