FRESHMAN ADMISSIONS

Fall 2010 Critical Dates

California State University, Fresno is an impacted campus at the freshman level and will use supplemental admissions criteria to admit first-time freshmen for the fall 2010 semester. All first-time freshman applicants must complete and submit the CSU Application for Admission during the priority filing period (October 1 to November 30, 2009) to be considered for admission.

Applicants from the CSU Fresno-defined local area will be admitted based on CSU systemwide eligibility criteria. SAT or ACT scores are required for all students with a grade point average below a 3.00. SAT or ACT scores are recommended for all students with grade point average of 3.00 or higher. Test scores must be submitted by January 15, 2010. A list of schools in the CSU Fresno-defined local area can be found here.

Freshman applicants from schools outside of the CSU Fresno-defined local area who are CSU eligible will be rank ordered by eligibility index and admission offers will be made in descending order of eligibility until the freshman class is full. SAT or ACT scores are required for all applicants from schools outside the local area. Test scores must be submitted by January 15, 2010.

A small percentage of the freshman class may be admitted based on eligibility index and additional characteristics including first generation college status, socioeconomic factors, skills or talents that align with or contribute to special university programs, and evidence of overcoming educational obstacles

All freshman applicants must complete the required subject matter requirements with grades of C or better by the date of high school graduation. Course requirements may not be completed during the summer after high school graduation.

CSU Fresno is also “impacted” in the Nursing program and in the Kinesiology-Athletic Training option.

TRANSFER ADMISSIONS

Fall 2010 Critical Dates

California State University, Fresno will accommodate all eligible upper division transfers who apply for admission for the fall 2010 semester by November 30, 2009 .

Local Area:
The university is not “impacted” at the upper division level and has not designated a “local area” for screening of transfer applicants. All eligible applicants without regard to area of residence will be considered.

Application Deadline:
The application period for upper division transfers begins on October 1, 2009 and will close on November 30, 2009 .

Admission Requirements:
Student will qualify for admission if they have completed 60 or more transferable semester units and:

  1. have a minimum gpa of 2.00 or higher (2.40 gpa for non-California residents) in all transferable college units attempted; and
  2. are in good standing at the last college or university attended; and
  3. will have completed at least 30 semester units (45 quarter units) with grades of C or better in courses equivalent to general education requirements, including all of the general education requirements in communication in the English language (at least nine units in English composition, oral communication, and critical thinking), and at least one course of at least 3 semester units (4 quarter units) in college level mathematics.

All courses needed to satisfy admission requirements must be completed by the end of the spring 2010 semester. Courses completed in summer 2010 cannot be used to satisfy the minimum gpa or general education courses required for admission.

Transcript Deadline:
Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be received by Friday , January 29, 2010 . The transcript from the most current institution attended must include courses in progress or planned for spring 2010.

A final transcript with final grades for spring 2010 courses attempted must be received by June 18, 2010.
