Admissions – Terminology
No admission applications will be accepted for Spring 2010
Applications for Fall admission are accepted October 1-April 1
During your admissions process there are levels of graduate/postbaccalaureate
standing. The following explains the various designations.
GRADUATE STANDING
Conditionally Classified
The applicant granted conditionally classified graduate standing has been
admitted to the university, and conditionally to the program, but not
yet satisfied all program admission requirements.
Classified
The applicant who has been granted classified graduate standing has been
admitted to the university and fulfilled all program admission requirements.
Thus, classified graduate students are those who have been fully admitted
to their program.
Special Admission
This process is reserved for those applicants who have not met grade point
average eligibility requirements for admission to the university. Note:
International students could also require Special Admission if required
TOEFL scores have not been met.
Students who have previously been admitted to a graduate
program, but after reapplication have received a letter of denial to the
university, should contact the Division of Graduate Studies (559) 278-2448
for special admit procedures.
New applicants who have received a letter of denial
to the university, should contact the Graduate Admissions Office at (559) 278-4073 or graduateadmissions@listserv.csufresno.edu.
POSTBACCALAUREATE STANDING
Classified
The applicant granted classified postbaccalaureate standing has been admitted
to the university, qualified for admission to a credential or certificate
program, but has not been admitted to a graduate degree program.
